Synopsis:
Their passionate encounter happened long ago by whatever measurement Claire Randall took. Two decades before, she had traveled back in time and into the arms of a gallant eighteenth-century Scot named Jamie Fraser. Then she returned to her own century to bear his child, believing him dead in the tragic battle of Culloden. Yet his memory has never lessened its hold on her... and her body still cries out for him in her dreams.

Then Claire discovers that Jamie survived. Torn between returning to him and staying with their daughter in her own era, Claire must choose her destiny. And as time and space come full circle, she must find the courage to face the passion and pain awaiting her...the deadly intrigues raging in a divided Scotland... and the daring voyage into the dark unknown that can reunite—or forever doom—her timeless love.

Review:
This is the third book in a series of thrilling time travel adventure stories by Diana Gabaldon. If you've stuck it out and read the first two books in the Outlander series, you know these books are long, historically detailed, and full of adventure, violence, sex and magic.

In Voyager, Claire finds out the truth about Jamie's life after the battle of Culloden. She mistakenly thought he had died but she finds out that he saved his men and he himself survived the fighting. She is torn by her love for Jamie in 18th century Scotland and her 18 year old daughter Brianna in the 20th century.

Ultimately she decides to return to Jamie and the first part of this book is about their reuniting and filling in the gaps of 18 years living apart. Then Roger and Brianna find a foreboding news article accounting Jamie's and Claire's death and Brianna must decide how to save her mother even though they are separated by two centuries.

Voyager lovingly continues this compelling time travel series. We finally get to see Jamie and Claire unite in a time and place they can finally be together in peace (or can they?) and the characters of Brianna and Roger are rounded out and whole heartedly join in the adventures. I love the idea of Jamie and Claire reuniting and it is so moving reading the scene where Claire tells Jamie about Brianna. Even though he knows he can never meet Brianna, his love for her is fierce and complete.

Finally seeing Brianna's love for her mother and the lengths she will go to save her is amazing, also finding out just how much Roger truly loves Brianna...sigh. I love the characters in this series and the history they bring to life during the telling of their stories. You will not be disappointed with this third epic tale in the Outlander series. As with the other's it does contain sex, adventure, and violence so it's not intended for young or timid readers.

Intended Audience: Adults 18+, contains sex, violence
